The Book of the Missed Exit

  1. Not every wrong turn announces itself immediately.
  2. Some exits are missed quietly, without noise or drama. Until the faithful look around one day and realise they are far from where they intended to be.
  3. The people often imagine life as a straight highway. Work hard. Make good choices. Arrive safely where you planned.
  4. Yet the road rarely obeys such simple maps.
  5. Opportunities pass unnoticed. Relationships drift apart through silence rather than conflict. Dreams are delayed until they quietly expire beneath responsibility and routine.
  6. The faithful said, “I thought there would be more time.”
  7. But time moves like highway signs at night. Visible only for moments before disappearing behind us forever.
  8. Some miss exits through fear, some through pride. Others simply because they were too exhausted to recognise the turn when it appeared.
  9. And often the realisation arrives suddenly. A quiet drive home after work. A birthday that feels heavier than expected. An old photo found accidentally in a drawer. A project abandoned years ago still waiting beneath a dusty cover.
  10. Regret settles heavily upon the faithful in such moments.
  11. 22 They wonder about roads not taken. Careers left behind. Words unsaid. People not called soon enough.
  12. Yet the wise understood something important: No journey is entirely wasted.
  13. Even wrong roads teach necessary lessons. Even detours shape the person who eventually arrives somewhere wiser than before.
  14. The road is full of second chances for those willing to keep driving.
  15. Sometimes the missed exit leads unexpectedly toward a better destination. Other times it simply teaches humility and perspective.
  16. The faithful learned not to worship perfect decisions. For no human sees the entire map clearly while travelling through it.
  17. Many carry shame for paths they wish they had chosen differently.
  18. Yet shame rarely helps the journey continue.
  19. Acceptance, however, allows movement once more.
  20. The people asked, “Can I still turn around?”
  21. And the road answered gently: “As long as you continue moving, another exit will come.”
  22. And so it was written: “The journey is shaped not only by the roads chosen, but by how the faithful continue after wrong turns.”
  23. And beneath countless night skies, the faithful continue searching for meaning beyond missed exits. Trusting that even delayed journeys may still lead somewhere worth arriving.

There are pages still blank, stories not yet spoken, machines awaiting their moment in scripture. If there is a car, a maker, or a myth we have not yet written - speak it. And together, we shall write the next verse of the Gospel.
