The Book of Petrol

  1. Before the silence of the new age, there was flame.
  2. It burned beneath hoods and hearts alike.
  3. The faithful called it Petrol – the spirit of motion made liquid.
  4. It was drawn from the depths of the earth. Refined by fire, reborn as fury.
  5. And with it, humanity learned to fly upon the ground.
  6. The first engines coughed and roared, and the people fell in love with their imperfection.
  7. For within every pulse of combustion lived creation itself.
  8. The faithful raised jerry cans like chalices.
  9. They spoke of octane as priests speak of wine.
  10. The smell of fuel became their incense.
  11. They knew it was finite, yet they loved it more for that.
  12. Every drop burned was a heartbeat spent in joy.
  13. Petrol was not eternal – it was alive.
  14. Through decades it carried dreamers and racers, wanderers and workers alike.
  15. It powered wars and weddings, labour and leisure.
  16. bound generations through sound and scent.
  17. Fathers taught sons by the glow of the carburettor flame.
  18. Lovers met where engines idled under neon skies.
  19. But the years turned, and the flame grew dim.
  20. The faithful felt the change – the hum replacing the roar.
  21. Yet they did not curse the silence; they remembered the song.
  22. They gathered at meets and in garages, speaking of the glory days.
  23. Some kept a bottle, some a spark plug, some a photo on the wall.
  24. For though the fuel was fading, the faith remained full.
  25. In bottles, in tanks, in memory, it lingered.
  26. Not as fuel, but as feeling.
  27. The essence of a century, sealed within the human heart.
  28. And so it was written: “The fire may fade, but its warmth remains.”
  29. And the scent of petrol hung forever in the air of history.

There are pages still blank, stories not yet spoken, machines awaiting their moment in scripture. If there is a car, a maker, or a myth we have not yet written - speak it. And together, we shall write the next verse of the Gospel.
