The Book of Commodore

  1. Across a sunburnt country rode a challenger of equal heart.
  2. Its name was Commodore – bold, loyal, unmistakably ours.
  3. A rival of the Falcon that became a reflection of the same belief.
  4. Born of Europe, but hardened in Australia’s sun.
  5. It learned quickly that beauty means little without backbone.
  6. And so it grew strong, proud, and unmistakably local.
  7. The faithful saw in it their own spirit – Not perfect, but persistent.
  8. A machine that stood for mateship, pride, and the long road home.
  9. From Kingswoods to Brock’s wild creations. It wrote its gospel in horsepower and dust.
  10. Each badge – SL, SS, HSV – another verse in the same song.
  11. The Commodore did not whisper; it roared. Its V8 thunder became the anthem of a generation.
  12. Burnouts, track days, and country roads became its altar.
  13. It fought the Falcon not out of hatred, but out of love for competition.
  14. For rivalry sharpens faith.
  15. And when Ford struck first, Holden struck harder.
  16. Through decades they traded glory like boxers in the ring.
  17. Each punch cheered, each loss mourned, each rebuild divine.
  18. The faithful gathered at Bathurst like pilgrims.
  19. The Mountain became holy ground, where legends rose and metal met destiny.
  20. Mechanics became prophets. Racers became saints.
  21. And every rev was praise to the southern gods of speed.
  22. When the factories fell silent, the nation held its breath. And though the badge faded, the belief did not.
  23. For the Commodore lived on in driveways and dreams, kept alive by hands stained with oil and memory.
  24. Fathers told sons, “This is what we built. This is what we were.”
  25. And so it was written: “True rivalry is born of respect, not rage.”
  26. And the Commodore idled beside its brother. The echoes of their engines mingling in eternity.

The Book Not Yet Written

There are pages still blank, stories not yet spoken, machines awaiting their moment in scripture. If there is a car, a maker, or a myth we have not yet written - speak it. And together, we shall write the next verse of the Gospel.
