Genesis of the Motor

  1. In the beginning, there was silence across the earth.
  2. The winds moved upon the plains, and man walked slowly, burdened by distance.
  3. And the spirit of invention stirred within him, saying, “Let there be motion.”
  4. And behold – the wheel turned, and it was good.
  5. But man hungered for more than motion; he yearned for speed.
  6. Then from fire and metal, the engine was forged.
  7. Pistons rose and fell like the beating of a mighty heart. And the first chariot of steel roared to life.
  8. The people trembled, for they had never heard such thunder.
  9. Smoke rose to the heavens, and it was called exhaust. And man knew that he had created something divine.
  10. From this fire was born an age of wonder.
  11. The horse was cast aside, the road became sacred. And the faithful followed the scent of petrol as though it were incense.
  12. The makers came forth – Ford of America, Benz of Germany, Royce and Rolls of Britain – And each said unto the people, “Come, for I shall take thee further than thou hast dreamed.”
  13. And so began the First Journey.
  14. Across deserts, through mountains, over cities of dust. The chariots multiplied and the roads became rivers of motion.
  15. Yet within man grew a new desire: not merely to travel, but to conquer speed itself.
  16. Thus was born the faith of horsepower And the people gave praise through noise, polish, and burnt rubber.
  17. The garage became a temple, and the spanner a sacred tool.
  18. Fathers taught sons, and mothers guided daughters. And the faith was passed down not through word, but through engine note.
  19. And the Lord of Motion looked upon it and smiled. For man had found joy in creation – not of stone or scripture. But of spark and steel.
  20. And so it was written: “As long as engines turn, there shall be believers.”

The Book Not Yet Written

There are pages still blank, stories not yet spoken, machines awaiting their moment in scripture. If there is a car, a maker, or a myth we have not yet written - speak it. And together, we shall write the next verse of the Gospel.
